Over 3 terms Martin will show you how to create a paper pattern, and adjust both it and your finished garment to your individual measurements and designs. Fee for level 1 includes cost of pattern paper, there will be costs involved with buying your own selection of fabrics and notions for the further terms.

FIRST TERM    LEVEL 1 - BASIC BLOCKS - BODICE, SKIRT, SLEEVE, DRESS, TROUSERS
Students will learn how to create a paper pattern of a bodice, skirt, trouser, sleeve and dress block, in a standard size 10, the techniques taught can then be applied to students own measurements to create a standard block for making patterns that will be used in level 2.
No experience necessary, students will need to bring a metre stick, set square, paper scissors and pencil.

SECOND TERM    LEVEL 2 - DART MANIPULATION, DEVELOPMENT OF BASIC BLOCKS

THIRD TERM     LEVEL 3 - DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF A GARMENT
Students will learn how to sketch a garment and develop a pattern by designing from the personal blocks created in Level 1 and the techniques taught in Level 2, making and fitting toile for your sketched garment and completing it in chosen fabric.
