Fee for level 1 includes cost of pattern paper, there will be costs involved with buying your own selection of fabrics and notions for the further terms.
FIRST TERM LEVEL 1 - BASIC BLOCKS - BODICE, SKIRT, SLEEVE, DRESS, TROUSERS
Students will learn how to create a paper pattern of a bodice, skirt, trouser, sleeve and dress block, in a standard size 10, the techniques taught can then be applied to students own measurements to create a standard block for making patterns that will be used in level 2.
No experience necessary, students will need to bring a metre stick, set square, paper scissors and pencil.
SECOND TERM LEVEL 2 - DART MANIPULATION, DEVELOPMENT OF BASIC BLOCKS
Students will develop the basic blocks created in Level 1, learn about dart manipulation and start the process of designing, from basic blocks to making of a toile (mock up) to test the patterns. Completion of Level 2 will be needed for entry to Level 3.
THIRD TERM LEVEL 3 - DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF A GARMENT
Students will learn how to sketch a garment and develop a pattern by designing from the personal blocks created in Level 1 and the techniques taught in Level 2, making and fitting toile for your sketched garment and completing it in chosen fabric.
